The Environmental Management Authority (EMA) honoured some of Trinidad and Tobago’s most forward thinking organisations at the Green Leaf Awards (GLA) 2026, marking the revitalisation of the country’s premier environmental recognition programme. Held under the theme, “Celebrating Sustainability in the Private Sector,” the event recognised organisations demonstrating excellence in sustainability, innovation and climate action.
The ceremony brought together representatives from government, business, academia, civil society and the international community. Delivering the feature address, Minister of Finance and Minister in the Ministry of Planning, Economic Affairs and Development, Senator the Honourable Davendranath Tancoo, emphasised that environmental responsibility and economic development are mutually reinforcing and essential to building a resilient and prosperous Trinidad and Tobago. The Honourable Farley Chavez Augustine, Chief Secretary of the Tobago House of Assembly, also delivered remarks highlighting the importance of environmental stewardship and sustainable development.
