The Environmental Management Authority (EMA), in its role as the Global Environment Facility (GEF)
Operational Focal Point for Trinidad and Tobago, successfully hosted the GEF National Forum 2026 on 20 May 2026 in Trinidad at Hilton Trinidad & Conference Centre and on 26 May 2026 in Tobago at Comfort Inn & Suites Conference Centre in collaboration with the Ministry of Planning, Economic Affairs and Development.

Held under the theme “Transforming Environmental Ambition into Action: Trinidad and Tobago’s Pathway to Resilience through the Global Environment Facility,” the Forum brought together representatives from government ministries and agencies, civil society organisations, academia, international partners and the private sector to strengthen stakeholder engagement and advance national environmental priorities. The National Forum formed part of the GEF–Organisation of American States (OAS) project titled “Strengthening Project Portfolio Oversight of GEF Operational Focal Points in Latin America and the Caribbean.” The initiative aimed to strengthen country ownership of GEF-supported programmes and improve coordination among stakeholders to maximise the impact of environmental financing.
