MEDIA RELEASE – Mainstreaming Trinidad and Tobago’s National Environmental Policy.

On November 15, 2023, the Environmental Management Authority (EMA) hosted an Orientation Workshop for Point Persons representing sixteen Ministries and State Enterprises across Trinidad and Tobago. These Point Persons were nominated by their respective Permanent Secretaries to assist the EMA in developing the first Action Plan for the National Environmental Policy (NEP) 2018.
The key objectives of the workshop included:

1. The promotion of the NEP as a tool to focus efforts and reduce redundancies in the planning and implementing of environmental and sustainable development initiatives within Ministries.

2. To onboard the participants into their roles as Ministry Point Persons.

3. To identify the immediate next steps each representative will take to drive NEP mainstreaming within their Ministries.
