Neeala Mongroo is an accomplished environmental and sustainability professional with over a decade of experience across various sectors, including energy, industrial operations, wastewater treatment, solid waste management, and environmental compliance services. Throughout her career, she has led initiatives focused on regulatory compliance, environmental stewardship, risk management, and organisational resilience, with a strong commitment to advancing sustainable development across Trinidad and Tobago. Her multidisciplinary background allows her to bridge technical policy insight with practical operational leadership.
She holds a BSc in Environmental and Natural Resource Management with minors in Marine Biology and Biology, an MSc in Occupational and Environmental Safety and Health, and an MBA in Leadership, Entrepreneurship and Innovation. She is currently pursuing a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) with a specialization in Energy and Environmental Sustainability, where her research interests include circular economy models, sustainable resource systems, and evidence-based environmental governance.
Beyond her professional career in environmental management, Ms. Mongroo is also a successful businesswoman, serving as founder and managing director of multiple enterprises spanning environmental services, consulting, general contracting and food-service operations. She is passionate about nation-building, sustainability, and empowering future generations through leadership and innovation. As Deputy Chairman of the Environmental Management Authority, she brings a results-driven, collaborative, and forward-thinking approach aimed at fostering responsible growth, enhanced environmental protection, and a more sustainable future for Trinidad and Tobago.
