EMA and THA Clearing House Taking Root

A protocol for the processing of Certificate of Environmental Clearance (CEC) applications for Tobago; possible collaborations on environmental campaigns; expansion of the borders for protected areas in Tobago were some of the draft Supplemental Guidelines discussed at the 2nd Clearing House Meeting between the Environmental Management Authority (EMA) and the Division of Infrastructure, Quarries and the Environment (DIQE).

This meeting which takes place every three (3) months is aligned with the commitment set out in a Memorandum of Understanding signed by both parties in May 2019. The MOU sought to strengthen collaboration on environmental related work in Tobago and improving capacity.

Present at the meeting were Environment Secretary, THA, Kwesi Des Vignes; Chief Administrator, Bernadette Solomon-Koroma; Director of the Environment, Linford Beckles; EMA Chairman, Nadia Nathai-Gyan; Vice-Chairman EMA, Judy Daniel; THA representative on EMA Board, Garth Ottley; Managing Director EMA, Hayden Romano and Environmental Officer I, EMA, Gillian Stanisclaus.
