EMA's Role in Water Quality Management

The Environmental Management Authority (EMA) is aware of information in the public domain regarding the possibility that water sources in proximity to the Guanapo Landfill
and other landfills in Trinidad may be contaminated by leachate run-off from these sites.

The Water Resources Agency (WRA) and Water and Sewerage Authority of Trinidad and Tobago (WASA) have informed the EMA that an extensive water quality testing regime is in place to ensure that the potable water supplied to consumers throughout Trinidad and Tobago meets the required standards for human consumption.

The EMA continues to liaise with these and other relevant agencies on this matter.
