The EMA’s education and awareness programmes cater to communities throughout Trinidad and Tobago. Lectures, exhibitions and workshops are conducted on a continuous basis, in addition to the implementation of special projects.
From June 2014 – June 2016, the EMA engaged thirteen (13) of the fourteen (14) Municipal Corporations to foster a better understanding of the EMA’s regulatory, compliance and enforcement procedures. This was done through sensitisation sessions offered to each municipal corporation, where the role of the EMA was described and discussed with the Corporations’ Aldermen, Councillors and administrative staff.
These sessions were developed to encourage an exchange of information between the EMA and local government authorities. This programme equipped the authorities with accurate information which could be disseminated to their respective communities, thereby improving the management of environmental issues in the various electoral districts.
