|World Whale Day|
The Environmental Management Authority (EMA) joins with the rest of the world in observing Whale Day on June 21, 2010. This day draws attention to one of the more significant global campaigns related to a significant threat to the planet’s biological diversity.
Trinidad and Tobago remains among the consistent opponents of any lifting of the 1986 moratorium.
The Environmental Management Authority (EMA) also recognises this occasion as the world commemorates International Year of Biodiversity 2010. The Authority promotes the view that species such as the Humpback, Sperm and Pilot seen in the Caribbean should enjoy continued protection as populations remain under threat from both natural and man-made phenomena.
